Euro Rally Championship is pretty much bottom of the barrel rally racing, with dated graphics (2001’s Colin McRae Rally looks far more superior), uninteresting sound effects and poor sound support, gnawing loopy techno music and a bare-boned driving simulation that is outclassed by the decade-old NASCAR Racing (1994). You can drive through the barren and poorly textured tracks in either time attack or championship modes, the latter allowing you to compete against other drivers in a bid to place yourself higher on a table board. Yawn.
The game allows you to race through several European and African tracks in both 4WD and FWD rally cars. Customizable setup schemes let you modify such car components as the dampers, springs or gear ratios, and can drive with both automatic or manual gear boxes. You’ll almost certainly require a racing wheel to play, since the default scheme is far too sluggish for keyboard control.
System Requirements: Pentium III 700 MHz, 128 MB RAM, WinXP
