The Sierra Sports Game Room features virtual versions of classic games that have been mainstays of arcades and corner pubs for generations. A total of six games are bundled in this package, including two older Sierra games – Maximum Pool and Ultra Pinball Thrillride – and four standalone ones.

Snap5The two older games from Sierra are by far the best. You can tell these two games were grafted to the package because the main selection window shuts down whenever you select one of them. Maximum Pool can be played both against the computer and other players, and offers some of the best pool gameplay around. It’s definitely the best of its category from Sierra anyway. Ultra Pinball Thrillride, the second Sierra game, is based off Hersheypark in Hershey, Pennsylvania. It includes over 15 action-packed “rides”, plenty of special events, double multi-ball event, side tables, multiple flipper sets, and more.

The other four games included in this bundle are good, but frankly not as interesting. These include Darts, Shuffleboard, Table Hockey and Table Tennis (Ping-Pong). But in the end, none of these will occupy your time for very long, although they are amusing for short periods. You can play them against the computer (multiple skill levels are offered) or against friends in turn-based games.

  1. Peter says:

I get an error on boot,

    cannot find file, data/FrontEnd/Snd/Darts.wav

I looked and this file does not exist, any way to fix?

  2. Try downloading again. Should be fixed now.

  3. Peter says:

I figured out that you need to run unpack.exe which fills in the rest of the files, but the Pinball game doesn’t have any sound effects or voices just music, any idea if there is another file that needs to be executed to unpack those sound files?

  4. If there’s a setup.exe then that will run everything, including the unpacking program.
