Uprising 2: Lead and Destroy
|Publisher:||The 3DO Company|
|Genres:||3D Shooter / First-Person Shooter|
|Game Modes:||Singleplayer / Multiplayer|
Uprising 2 attempts to deliver the same manic blend of action and strategy as the original. Played from a first-person perspective, the game follows the standard strategy convention of building a base, generating resources, producing units, and blowing up the enemy. Unlike regular RTS games, the game also plays like an action game as well, letting you destroy enemies with a futuristic tank. The Imperium, the bad guys in the first game, are gone, and the leaders of the rebellion have established the New Alliance. But now they have to thwart a new threat – aliens.
By adding an alien menace, one of the criticisms of the original game — that the two sides looked too similar — has been addressed. Additional tweaks to the game include somewhat more refined 3D, with artwork designed specifically for 3D cards (the original had low-resolution art that was a holdover from it’s origins as a 320×200 game) and a better integrated multiplayer game (the original’s was more of a tacked-on feature).
